Fernando Amador Presents, “The Mexican Restaurants of NYC”

On November 4th, Fernando Amador presented, “The Mexican Restaurants of New York City,” as a virtual event offered by the Center for Digital Humanities at Stony Brook University Libraries. A PhD candidate in the History Department, Fernando completed an internship at the CDH during the Spring 2020 semester. This talk was an opportunity to share his work in GIS within the context of a project he is currently doing with Dr. Lori Flores of the History Department.

The virtual event was attended by faculty, graduate students, and staff, leading to a rich discussion following Fernando’s talk. For many, this was an introduction to the kinds of work being done by humanists and lettered social scientists working in GIS. The CDH is grateful for Fernando’s work as an intern, and for his willingness to share his research and insight during this presentation.
