Special Collections maintains and preserves the university’s rare maps and atlases of Long Island and New York State dating back to the seventeenth century with Willem Janszoon Blaeu's New Belgium and New England (1640). The map and atlas collections housed in the department can be identified by searching the catalog and limiting results to the location of “Special Collections” and the format to “maps.”
