The University Archives acquires, preserves, and provides access to materials that document the history of Stony Brook University. The collections supplement the official records created and maintained by administrative and academic units. Examples include university-produced: published reports; class schedules and course bulletins; speeches; commencement programs; photographs; yearbooks; newspapers and magazines; master plans; faculty scholarship; and ephemera.
The division also maintains subject files on university activities and the Stony Brook Authors and Editors Collection, a print-based collection of books authored and edited by SBU faculty. Please note, the University Archives does not have oversight of, or management of records; that program is under the aegis of Audit Management and Advisory Services.
