In commemoration of Native American Heritage Month, the Committee on Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity at the University Libraries is excited to present a workshop on “Locating Reliable Sources for Indigenous Research Papers and Projects” with our very own librarian Dana Reijerkerk!
When: Thursday, November 19, 11am
Location: Online
This presentation will cover research methods for searching and finding primary sources about Indigenous peoples situated in what is now called the United States. Attendees will come away with a list of government websites, data set repositories, and databases to search for and find research-related information about Indigenous peoples.
About Dana: Dana Reijerkerk is the Knowledge Management and Digital Assets Librarian at the Stony Brook University Libraries. She holds a B.A. in American Indian Studies from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and a Master of Science in Information from the University of Michigan. Her Master’s research focused on Indigenous community/tribal archives, and her current research explores Indigenous issues in galleries, libraries, archives, and museums.
Please register for this event via Zoom. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with information about joining the meeting.
We also hope to see you at our program on Understanding Intergenerational Trauma for Indigenous Communities on November 16.
