The Library of Congress’s Radio Preservation Task Force (RPTF) is developing a national database with the Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC) to identify, map, and make searchable information regarding historical radio broadcasts and other radio-related materials. The RPTF is working with the ARSC and Indiana University on developing a national finding aid to search for, and in some cases access, historical radio audio recordings (Radio Recording Metadata Interface).

Special Collections, SBU Libraries is contributing to this initiative with the inclusion of the Aaron Kramer Collection, a collection of spoken word poetry readings featuring Kramer reciting his own poems and works by Walt Whitman, Langston Hughes, Henry David Thoreau and other revered poets. Librarians Kristen Nyitray, Director of Special Collections and University Archives and Violeta Ilik, Head of Cataloging and Metadata Services are creating descriptive content for the project.
