SBU Libraries’ Preservation Department will be out in Southampton on Wednesday, September 27th, teaching students how to assemble their own chapbooks. Chapbooks are handmade, bound collections of writings. They have a storied history, having served as conveyors of everything from murder ballads to folk tales to political tracts.
- Poetry chapbook cut in the round and featuring saddle stitch, stapled binding. Mineola High School, 1971.
- Standard pamphlet trim size, saddle stitch and stapled binding. SUNY Oswego, 1959
- Poetry chapbook depicting a split, open-faced cover. Mineola High School, 1968
So come join us from 2:00 – 4:00 PM in the Library for this hands-on workshop. Once you’ve mastered the skills involved, creating the content is up to you!
