In the News: Digital Humanities at SBU Libraries

The planned digital humanities space at SBU Libraries, supported by a gift from the Gladys Brooks Foundation, made the news last week with quotes from Dr. Andrew Newman (Professor of English) and Dr. Kate Kasten (Head of Humanities & Social Sciences, Univ. Libraries). The article focuses on the importance of this gift to the advancement of the Libraries’, and of the University’s, mission to support digital scholarship in the humanities and across campus.

The digital humanities space will be housed on the second floor of the North Reading Room in Melville Library, near the Center for Scholarly Communication, helping to create space for a community of practice in digital scholarship, digital pedagogy, and scholarly communication. In order to create a dynamic, responsive space, the Libraries’ are working with faculty and students interested in the digital humanities, as well as with a variety of other campus entities involved in similar work, such as CELT, the Geospatial Center, and the College of Arts and Sciences.
